Today, mountain biking in Slovenia is taking the world by storm. As one of the most appealing active sports in the country, growing at an unbelievable pace – everyone seems to be jumping on two-wheels ready to indulge in their very own Slovenia adventure.

Recently, Slovenia tourist destinations have proudly developed their own MTB packages. This follows the overwhelming demand from riders aiming to gain insights of the area to fully get-to-know the amazing under-the-radar beauty Slovenia really has to offer. Comfortably situated between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, you’ll always find a delightful rolling hill, epic mountain piste or perhaps a peaceful shaded road that allows you to take in every type of MTB experience you’re looking for. An MTB experience which won’t disappoint.

The Best of Slovenian Single Trails is exactly what the name suggests. This really is the best Slovenia has to offer when it comes to gravity type riding. Consisting of carefully hand-picked gravity riding spots, with ski lifts or served shuttles, all of your energy goes into smoothly manoeuvring your two-wheeled machine – going downhill. This adventure takes you around Slovenia with a shuttle, featuring 7 different riding spots, each lasting the entire day before enjoying a delicious dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 01

We kick-off in style. The stunning two-hour descent from the Matajur mountain is by far the highlight of the day. An organized shuttle service takes you to the peak (1.642m) ready to experience the fantastic views of the Soča Valley and surrounding mountains. The great thing is – we can drive back to the top as many times as you like. The scenic descent leads over the border to Italy where we’ll take a well-earned rest and treat ourselves to some tasty Italian ice-cream. Here, our shuttle van will be waiting for us ready to drive back to the Slovene town of Kobarid. Following a short break, we’ll visit the well-known Kobarid museum devoted to the Soča Front of the First World War – which became one of the most dramatic battlefields taking the lives of more than 1 million soldiers.

DAY 02

Čaven (Ajdovščina)

Drive to the top of Čaven mountain with our shuttle service or if you’re up to it – take up the challenge and boost your fitness level before enjoying a well-deserved descent. The various remote downhill cycle trails provide a host of options – all you have to do is decide which one suits you best. One thing is sure. Magnificent scenery, stunning landscapes with bags of adrenaline and fun.

DAY 03

Velika planina (Ljubljana)

The impressive Velika planina is a natural beauty worth a visit in its own right. Known as the Big Pasture Plateau, it lies in the heart of the Kamnik Alps with a dispersed high-elevation settlement of mostly herders’ dwellings. We move up to the mountain by cable car then faced with plenty of choices as to which route to pick for the decent. There’s one thing they all have in common –   enjoyable single tracks in a splendid environment always making you want more.

DAY 04

Pohorje (Maribor)

Sounds familiar? As the home to the annual Golden Fox – FIS Ski World Cup for Women (Slalom and Giant Slalom) this is probably why. Interestingly, this same resort is the host for yet another big sporting event – the European MTB Downhill Championship. We’ll have the entire day to put our riding talents to the test on the very same terrain or, if you prefer – take the easier option of a more relaxed easier single track. Pohorje features a cable car which conveniently serves the MTB park

DAY 05

Peca (Prevalje)

This under-the-radar location is equally one of the most developed MTB destinations in Slovenia, gaining rapidly its well-deserved popularity. This MTB location features an incredible variety of singletracks for every taste and technical level. That’s not all. The picturesque landscape only adds to the overall impression of this MTB piece of heaven and our shuttle van in Peca will be on hand throughout the day. Here, we’ll stay the night at an MTB friendly farm house which features its own private trail park.

DAY 06

Kofce (Tržič)

Kofce is an extremely picturesque green plateau beneath the Karavnke mountains that naturally divide Slovenia from Austria. As a favourite MTB all-mountain destination, it allows you to cycle the climb using a properly maintained gravel road and then select the singletrack you feel comfortable with to enjoy the descent. We’ll skip the climb and take the shuttle van giving you even more time for riding down. Remember, you can return to the top as many times as you want.

DAY 07

Kranjska Gora

Kranjska Gora over the decades has gained its reputation not only for being the most famous winter sport village and ski resort in Slovenia, but equally for its men’s World Cup ski competition (Slalom and Giant Slalom) taking place annually. Once the snow melts away, the same infrastructure transforms into a hiking and biking centre, ideally positioned at the foothills of the Julian Alps. Kranjska Gora Bike Centre features a ski lift. The track is extremely diverse, rideable and challenging for everyone from beginners who want to learn their first gravity riding steps to pros who want to push themselves to the limits.

Our adventure starts in Soča Valley and ends in Kranjska Gora.

Soča Valley is surrounded with 4 international airports in maximum two and a half hour distance (Ljubljana, Venice, Trieste, Klagenfurt). We can arrange airport shuttles from all 4 airports.

From Austria to Soča Valley you cross the border to Italy near Tarvisio and continue toward border to Slovenia crossing the Predil pass. From there you descent down toward Soča Valley. Altogether it takes around 1,5h.
