MTB TRANS SLOVENIA 02
Classic, Self Guided, Countryside, Premium
Length & elevation
It’s the logic follow-up from Trans Slovenia 01 – but with a completely different character. Unlike TransSlovenia 01, Trans Slovenia 02 has almost no single trails or you can easily avoid them. TS02 is technically easier but the stages aren’t as short as TS01. It’s really recommended for e-bikers.
The tour starts at Baško Lake (Faaker See) across the Karavanke Alps entering into Slovenia. The Trail then connects the famous Bled and Bohinj Lakes across the Pokljuka plateau and continues through Soriška Planina Mountain to Cerkno. During the winter, this area turns into a popular family ski resort. The next stage is Idrija – UNESCO heritage Site. While in Bohinj you’re still cycling within the Alpine region whereas Cerkno and Idrija already represent the Pre-Alpine region.
The Idrija trail follows into the town of Ajdovščina with once again a completely different environment – The Dinarides. Moving on from Ajdovščina you find yourself in the Karst region where the trail passes by the Škocjanske Caves – a UNESCO Heritage Site and definitely one of the most beautiful Karst phenomenon in the world. Soon you’ll be riding through Istria and finishing your journey in the Slovenian Adriatic pearl town known as Piran. As you can see – Trans Slovenia 02 is just as diverse as TS01.
This trail combines many famous Slovenian tourist spots yet manages to avoid traffic roads – just remote gravel roads. A guaranteed week of cycling pleasure!
This adventure is exceptional and exciting – an experience that is very different from everyday life. A step away from our normal and usual environment in order to discover something new that promises to be interesting , fascinating, and in which the outcome is uncertain – as a general definition. However, bikers can use a shorter formula: Trans-Slovenia.
